Satbayev University’s teachers have completed the courses on inclusive education
Satbayev University Center for Support and Maintenance of Inclusive Education organized advanced training courses on “Understanding the student diversity: multicultural perspectives in inclusive education” topic. The training brought together teachers and staff of the directorate of Automation and Information Technology Institute. Participants got acquainted with peculiarities of teaching the students with special educational needs and received official certificates of professional growth.
The course program included topics related to the peculiarities of perception and interaction with people with disabilities, adaptation of the educational process and disciplines, ethics of communication, as well as issues of youth mental health and accessibility of educational environment. Particular attention was paid to real-world cases and practical recommendations for teachers of technical fields.
“The courses help to comprehend characteristics of people with disabilities, to take the given features into account in the educational process, in adaptation of degree programs. The first participants were the teachers of IT Institute, where often enrolls students with special needs,” said Dilyara Urmanova, head of Center for Support and Maintenance of Inclusive Education.
The courses have become the next stage in the systematic work to integrate the inclusivity principles into the academic environment of Satbayev University and will be continued for University’s other departments and external organizations as well.
